El Camino Historic Motorcycle Event on Sept. 22, 2012

elcamino2012a

EL CAMINO HISTORIC MOTORCYCLE EVENT MOVES TO IRWINDALE RACEWAY

Due to much needed earthquake retrofitting and renovations, a large portion of the parking lot used at El Camino College is unavailable for use for this year’s El Camino event. This construction would result in having to turn away 75 regular swap meet vendors, and would once again leave the event without space for the 30 to 50 new vendors that inquire each year wanting to participate in the event.
Now, the event will be held at the Irwindale Raceway, located at 500 Speedway Dr. Irwindale, CA. 91706.
The vendor spaces are a bit larger with plenty of room for all regular vendors, new vendors and for future growth.
The bike show registration fee and spectator admission will stay the same. There will be a $5.00 parking fee per vehicle and FREE dedicated ride-in parking for motorcycles.
We will be attending the event tomorrow, but will not have a vendor booth. Hope you can make it out to it as well!

Bobber ZunZun this Sunday, April 29th

promote for zunzun

Vindikta will not be vending at this event, but we are spreading the word as we support our Veterans as well as our chopper culture!

“MOTORCYCLE FESTIVAL FUNDRAISER FOR VETERANS” An Active Expression of Community VETERAN SUPPORT through the History of Stripped-Down Hand-Built Custom Motorcycles

This event will have organized rides from Ventura, Venice, Long Beach, and Downtown LA, all descending on the majestic Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Simi Valley, CA.

When fellas returned from WWII they started chopping bikes and creating motorcycle clubs. A lot of time has passed since then, and the chopper scene has evolved quite a bit, but we still have veterans returning from overseas who could use some community support.
There will be an assortment of healing practitioners, prizes, bbq, booze, tattooing, and all sorts of other goodness.

A Motorcycle Fundraiser for Veterans

TICKETS AVAILABLE ONLINE $20
www.hummingbirdranchmusic.com

This event is a fundraiser to benefit our Veterans and raise community awareness. Proceeds and donations go to our Veterans through reputable organizations. Live music, motorcycle rides, bikes and hot rods on showcase, vendors, entertainment and food will be plentiful all day.

Las Vegas Bike Fest 09

I just went out to the event for Saturday and made it to the Artistry in Iron event just after the show opened and as most people were heading for the vendors, I got the opportunity to have Kris Krome give me and a few other people a detailed overview of his Sturgis World Championship bike. Later I got to meet and ask questions to guys such as Bryan Fuller, Todd Silicato, Gard Hollinger and Christian Dotson. They were just hanging out next to their bikes and were all really down to earth and eager and friendly to answer the myriad of questions I had about their designs. That really made the trip worth it. When you have the opportunity to ask the “why” of aspects in the builds it really is inspiring.
For Example, Kris Krome’s bike was made primarily from polished stainless steel, the front end didn’t turn at the traditional head tube, it had two pivot points within the frame. The front axle was connected to the forks in what was essentially a hidden springer design that were two internal bearings. (he has pics on his site and U-tube videos of the build).

Most of bikes in the general show were the primarily the standard “theme” and “Easter egg” designs, with some exceptions. I liked the bikes from the guys at Sacred Steel Cycles, No flash, wild paint, just pure mechanical simplicity, design, form and function. I posted pics of a few of the bikes in the Artistry in Iron show and my favorite Sacred Steel bike that was in the general show.
